It’s a Spanish Harlem Phenomenon!
Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 04:54PM If you've walked around Spanish Harlem, you probably noticed a lot of random exercising outbursts by Hispanic men. For instance, the guy that's (working) inside your corner grocery store, although you can't tell what he does, well this guy breaks into push-ups while you're at the register zoning out on a $7 fruit cup. Right in front of you, he plops down, belly to tile, nose to fruit stand, push-ups in mind. These random outbursts aren't limited to push-ups. The rail around a tree doubles as a tricep dip bar. Dumbbells are disguised as grimy wash buckets.
But besides watching older Hispanic men use trees as pull-up bars, there are other fun ways to pass time. Playing dominos with hardcore domino veterans is fun. Unfortunately, Jorge apparently doesn't understand what "Man! take it easy, it's only like my second time playing this game" means.
